"It's not your content" - What is exactly your content?
It's not "your" interview, it's for the community, the devs aren't there for you, they're there to communicate with the people who play the game
— Zack (@Asmongold) August 2, 2024
If they had known you were going to act like this, it wouldn't have happened in the first place
Entitled and delusional
Completely disagree with this. Not a big wowhead guy but when any creator does an interview, its not “theirs” it doesn’t belong to them. It’s for the community using you as an outlet. Wowhead giving that information out(a wow fan website) makes perfect sense. https://t.co/SBZWols4cV

The interview is not his original content, he didn't even bother editing it to make it look nice

Wowhead embedded his video and tagged him. Couldn't have done more tbh
So if you're out of the know on what has been going on in World of Warcraft. Recently, Josh Corbett who has a podcast about World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery organised an interview with the two main developers, Josh Greenfield and Tim Jones.
WowHead has posted a summary of the article and Corbett made an incredibly inflammatory tweet that will most likely ensure he'll never be granted a developer interview again.
You can state that the tweet was very unnecessary and this one could have been resolved behind closed doors.
There is a clear disconnect from Maximum, Asmongold and AnnieFuchsia on how the interview is organised.
The interview was organised by Corbett as stated at the start of his video. Corbett wasn't advised by Blizzard that they'd like to discuss future patches and what direction that SoD was going. Corbett was clearly good friends with Greenfield and Jones before the interview.
There was no Blizzard reaching out to a creator in this one which what Asmongold and Maximum suggested. You can watch the start of the video below which disproves that premise.
Does any of this matter in regards to whether the interview is his content or not? Nope, it doesn't matter at all.
For the interview, the intellectual property is always his in every sense of the word since he produced it, scheduled it and most likely drafted questions for it. He can decide either productively or unproductively on what can be done with the interview. He cannot do that with the information itself.
It doesn't matter that his editing or his style is not high quality like most people have. It is fine to be simple and minimalistic especially if you expect the podcast to be heard and not seen.
To state that the interview is not his content is belittling in itself. Interviewing itself is incredibly difficult and requires tender care and well crafted questions to get the most out of people. It is always a balance between guiding the conversation and moving along to a different point. People can waffle for a very long time!
To stretch the "it's not your content line further", if an Esports Player is interviewed by Thorin on "Reflections". The logic that it isn't his content would dictate that any news site can transcribe the interview word by word and put the credit to Thorin? I certainty hope that nobody thinks like this.
In similiar situation where Nohte from HLTV accused BO3.GG of plagiarism (correctly) that they had transcribed his interview word for word.
Hey @bo3_gg, how about you don't shamelessly steal our content for Twitter and copy paste entire interviews I worked on onto your website? pic.twitter.com/VUfIPPhzEJ
— Danish Allana (@Nohte) March 5, 2024
It doesn't matter that BO3.GG had provided the source of the interview because they had literally copied his interview from HLTV. There was no reason to go to HLTV to read the article. It is already there for you!
However, WoWhead's news article does not do this at all. Ludvig "quacke69" Nilsson explains the difference of what is and isn't yours in an interview.
The hole in your logic is you think Richard Lewis as the person to present facts *owns* said facts. If this were the case the spread of information in the world would be next-to-impossible, and it would be hugely antithetical to freedom of speech and press.
— Ludvig Nilsson 🇺🇦 (@quacke69) March 6, 2024
Firstly, WoWhead did not simply copy and paste a transcript of the interview. There are sections where I feel like they did rip off the topics in the interview but the answers were all summarised in their own words.
If they simply copied Corbett's interview, Corbett would be in the right and it is plagiarism. It would not matter whether or not that they linked to his video. They would still be jacking his work.
I'd get started on the plagiarism in Guide Writing but I think that'll be for a different article. Enjoy the reading!
