“Should we listen to the pros?” — Comparison from CS2 to WoW

As you may know I cast Counter-Strike 2 and I also play World of Warcraft and if you pay attention to either of these fields. You may have noticed that recently Asmongold has made a few comments on improving WoW.
The above suggestions isn’t the main reason on why I am writing this article. The main reason was obviously the responses from the Top PvP players and the Top PvE Players and comparing it to viridian’s comments about Inferno in CS2.
So what happened?
The responses from Gingi (6x MDI Champion and raids for Echo) where he stated that the list of changes from Asmongold would most likely kill WoW.
A top PVP player in Samiyam (Blizzcon Champion / Plays for Liquid) stated that maybe we should listen to people who are good at the game.
There were disagreements from some pros who felt by reducing addons/spells that it could make the game better. There was a strong pushback against making the return of 40 man raids.
Obviously, this hasn’t gone down well with the average twitter user. The dogpile was set upon both of these players where twitter users had basically stated that developers were catering to them. They even blamed them for killing the game.
The WoW developers have no intention of increasing raid size to 40 man, eliminating all addons or pruning spells down to 10 or below.
Is CS2 any different?
I compare this to viridian when he asked for Inferno to add some garage doors and to provide lighter shades of colours in some areas. And wouldn’t you know, the same sort of responses that Samiyam and Gingi were heard.
Valve eventually enacted a lot of the changes that viridian had suggested such as the garage doors.
Twitter users had suggested that the top players were killing the game, taking the fun and soul from the maps, go play valorant and that the pros only ruin the game.
Is it even justified?
None of this behaviour is justifiable. After talking to a few of these individuals, a lot of their complaints were either not based in reality or not even related to the changes that the pros wanted to make.
I had one person acting like viridian wanted to change the map to just orange and white boxes which viridian never suggested.
I had another person thinking that they always balance WoW to the 0.001% and that they always had been since Legion.
Some of these twitter users also bemoan that pro players voice their opinion for their changes. I can’t imagine why they would put their thoughts on twitter especially when 90% of their responses will be “OMG, YOU SHOULDN’T BE PLAYING PRO THEN” or “YOU’RE OUT OF TOUCH”.
Especially when a lot of these pros have experimented and experienced much more in these games than probably the entire game’s twitter population.
Maybe some of these people should think for a second before hitting that tweet button.
